MM Friendly Fish & Chips
Friendly Fish & Chips:
I breaded flounder filets (note: they’re super cheap. Organic for $5.99…4 filets. rock) in Panko breadcrumbs, paprika, pepper, garlic powder. You’ll need something on the fish to get the breading to stick–I used an egg white with a splash of milk.
Bake at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes.
Now, the chips were tougher. I’ve been looking for a good baked french fry recipe. I’ve tried a million times. They all suck.
Sweet potatoes are especially terrible–but especially nutritionally dense. (see?)
If you have any suggestions… let me know. Personally, I think that potatoes should just start off as fries. Except, not fried. Just the consistency/texture/salty goodness.
This could just be an American wives tale propagated by the media, but um, I think fish and chips usually has red wine vinegar splashed on it..and is served with mayonnaise.
First let me say that red wine vinegar can flavor anything. I love it. Try it.
Second, tartar sauce is too easy to make to buy. Mayo (light, or with olive oil in my case) and relish (or chopped up pickles…since we’ve already talked about how much I love pickles, apparently…you know I had those on hand.) Really. That’s all that’s in it.
